I knew of CAVALLINO, and Forza, both Ferrari car magazines, and enjoy them when I find them. But I had no idea of the existence of The Official Ferrari Magazine, apparently edited and printed in Italy; but also available translated into English.

Now of course, it’s going to reflect Ferrari exactly the way the company wants since they are editing it. But I found its production quality to be awesome.

They are using the best photographers of cars available, and have any Ferrari they want to depict.

Official Ferrari Magazine, Issue No. 55

The issue I picked up, No. 60,  has a wider variety of stories like; The Roma Spyder, A profile of a Ferrari once owned by Ingrid Bergman, a technical piece on the FX90’s XX model, a story on the origin of the horse on the Ferrari shield, A profile of a Chinese collector and on and on.

I am not quite sure of where you get it. Try your Ferrari dealer. I gather you can subscribe and there’s more than one issue a year.

What makes it collectable is

  1. the best pictures
  2. the best source for inside information
  3. a wide variety of topics from their oldest cars to their newest.

What I admire most is the perfect binding (squared off) on a magazine, which makes it easy to store on a wall rack of books. The issue number is re3latively discreet.

I offered  on craigslist to trade a paper copy of my Ferrari art for each issue of the magazine, but no responders to far, so I think the collector value will have to be in the $20/copy and up, depending on condition.

I used to write for in-house publications (like Corvette News for Chevrolet) but you’re not going to read any criticism of the cars, the cars’ pricing  servicing, availability etc. But what you are going to read is a well done fanzine for those who refresh themselves reading about their favorite marque.
